Open Mic Night 6/1/24 - Choreographer Sign Up
Launched in 2022, these quarterly events provide LA-based choreographers a platform to showcase work and solicit feedback, without the heavy price tag of producing their own showcase or renting space, while inviting audience members to experience a diverse array of artistry and an intimate glimpse of artistic process. Each evening allows 8 choreographers, first-to-sign-up, to present a work or excerpt 10 minutes or under, with the option to include an introduction and short post-Q&A. MashUp also provides concessions and refreshments in our outdoor courtyard to further encourage discussion, networking, and community-building amongst choreographers, dancers, and audience members.

MashUp started holding Choreography Open Mics in early 2022 to address a lack of financially accessible opportunities (and space) for choreographers, especially early career professionals, to show work. Free for artists to show work, each evening makes space for eight artists to share their work and solicit feedback, while inviting a broad public to experience diverse artistry and artistic processes in a casual, community-centered, and supportive environment.
Artists can sign up to show a short work or a work excerpt, followed by a short Q&A if desired. Each night will have 8, 10-minute slots available first-come-first-served via pre-sign up - select "Show Choreography" ticket option.
Light refreshments will be served.
