Class begins with a guided, improvisational warm-up as a way to release tension in the body and mind, allowing access to new pathways of movement and connection to the space. Pulling from multiple styles, phrase material is introduced to challenge dancers to work through energetic pathways, ideas, textures, and momentum while working inside of specific musical phrasing and intention. Mary Grace works to create a space that feels safe for exploring and for supporting one another; leaving class with a sense of community is incredibly important to her. Modifications are suggested throughout the class for all bodies, abilities, and skill-levels; she encourages all students to make choices that feel best for them.
