The Dance Mashup: Mashup Contemporary Dance Company's New Blog

Hi and welcome to The Dance Mashup by Mashup Contemporary Dance Company!

My name is Kyrea, and I am the Community Engagement intern at Mashup this summer! I am thrilled to be launching our blog and am the primary writer during my time here; I look forward to sharing this online space with you!

MashUp’s goal with The Dance Mashup is to create a virtual blog space spotlighting the Los Angeles dance community and beyond with a focus on the empowerment of women and female-identifying artists in dance. Using an intersectional feminist lens, the blogs contents will critique inequities, celebrate activism and advocacy in the dance space, and more, centering on MashUp’s mission to uplift female-identifying artists and build community while embracing the company’s values of empowerment, creativity, community, diversity, and innovation.

Through interviews, guest posts, spotlights, and other articles, we want The Dance Mashup to be a virtual space for active listening and meaningful conversation as a means to better understand the stories and experiences of women and female-identifying artists inside and outside of our community.

I hope you enjoy, gain perspective, and participate in our virtual community on The Dance Mashup blog! Stay tuned for our first article coming out soon…
