National Women’s Equality Day Residency

August, Annually

Historically for this National Holiday MashUp had joined forces with female-identifying creative teams, ideological partners, and/or social justice organizations for a public performance or event. Now merged with MashUp’s annual residency program, this event empowers a female-identifying, nonbinary, and/or trans choreographer to deepen their artistic practice, and includes a stipend, studio time with MashUp company dancers, a fully produced culminating work-in-progress performance, and professional documentation. An investment in the future of the dance field, this program is for early/mid-career artists who are historically not provided resources at this scale.

National Women’s Equality Day Residency Program

MashUp’s Choreographic Residency Program supports an early- to mid-career female-identifying, non-binary, or trans choreographer in the creation of a new original work developed in collaboration with MashUp company dancers over the course of one month.

The selected resident artist receives:
• A $1,500 stipend
• 30 hours of dedicated studio time with MashUp dancers
• A fully produced culminating showcase
• Professional video and photography documentation of the work

The residency culminates in a public performance as part of MashUp’s annual celebration of National Women’s Equality Day, amplifying bold artistic voices and honoring the ongoing pursuit of gender equity in the arts.
