get to know: Lindley Mayer

"I started dancing at the age of three years old. Since the age of 7, when people asked me what I wanted to be when I 'grew up', I always said that I wanted to be a dancer. I never dreamed that it would become a reality until I actually moved to California at age 18 to continue doing what I love."

"I am currently in school online at the University of South Carolina. I am majoring in business and my minor is in Theatre. I hope to one day fuse my business and theatre studies together with my dancing to open my very own dance studio. It will be wonderful to (somewhere down the road) be able to continue doing what I love and give back all of my knowledge and training to my students."

"I feel very blessed to be able to do what I love every single day. Being successful to me means doing something that makes you happy and setting and reaching meaningful goals. I also think it's important to help others and have respectful relationships with those that I work with."

What has been your favorite performance experience thus far?

I was recently hired as a lead dancer on the television series, GLEE. I was excited to be doing tap, which has been one of my favorite dance forms since a very young age. It was amazing to meet all of the characters and see what a day on the set of GLEE is really like.

This is a picture of my two favorite people in the world. My two younger siblings were both born with a rare disability called Fanconi Syndrome. They have been the inspiration for a lot of the things that I have done thus far and they have a love for life that keeps me motivated each day. (The photo is from the Special Olympics in South Carolina) Love you!

What is your dream job?

My favorite actress, fashion icon, and humanitarian is Audrey Hepburn. I have always dreamed of playing her in a remake of one of her films. It would also be an incredible experience to go on tour with one of my favorite artists.

My favorite part about going to MashUp rehearsal is THE GIRLS. These girls have become like a family to me. There is never a dull moment in a rehearsal. Each one of us has something very different and unique about us, but we all share a love for the same art form. I am blessed to be able to come to rehearsal every week and watch such talented dancers.

What is your favorite album or type of music?

This might be too embarrassing to say. Haha, I actually love all kinds of music, but right now you can usually find me blasting Adele's new album, 21.

Who is your artistic hero?

Mia Michaels has always been someone who I have admired, as a teacher and choreographer. She puts her real life experiences into her work and I would love to be able to dance with her someday.
